  • Rare Bird 3883 Piedmont Avenue Oakland, CA, 94611 United States (map)

Sashiko, means little stabs , We will explore one of the basic sashiko “styles”: moyozashi (patterns) by using continuous lines of stitches to make larger patterns. This method of embroidery traditionally used geometric patterns and patterns inspired by nature to embellish fabrics.  Waves, mountains, bamboo, lightning, linked hexagons, persimmon flower, crests etc.)

Materials Required
Bring your creativity and any clean, pre washed garments or fabric to embellish with a traditional pattern or one of your own design. Jeans, cotton jacket, skirt, pillow cover or sweater- you name it. Ideally something you have and want to upgrade with a beautiful stitch pattern.
